Cinco de Mayo
The Mission Food Hub will be celebrating it's fourth year of programming with a Cinco de Mayo Celebration to raise funds to stay open another year. The event will take place Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 10 am on Folsom Street between 23rd and 25th Streets.
Money raised will benefit CANA-Mission Food Hub. The Food Hub was created by the community to help meet the needs of Latino families during the pandemic. At the height of the pandemic, the Mission Food Hub served 9,000 families facing food insecurity each week. Unfortunately, funding in food insecurity has drastically decreased and we are raising funds to keep us operational for another year.
Individuals interested in donating are asked to make contributions in denominations of “five” — $5, $50, $500, $5,000 — in keeping with the Cinco de Mayo theme. “The event will help us raise funds so we can keep providing groceries to our community. Since the start of the pandemic, the number of people suffering from food insecurity has increased.” said Roberto Hernandez, Founder of the Mission Food Hub.

Funding for food has drastically decreased at the Mission Food Hub. We have been working at long term solutions to grow our own food in San Francisco in partnership with our Native American brothers and sisters.
About Our Organization
Feeding Our Community
The Mission Food Hub was founded in May 2020 to provide culturally appropriate groceries for families who were affected by COVID-19. In San Francisco, food inequity is currently impacting over 12,000 Latinos who are unemployed and the Mission District is Ground ZERO for the coronavirus. We started providing 500 families with one grocery bag a week. The lines of people rapidly grew to 1,800 within a couple of weeks. We are now providing culturally appropriate groceries three times a week to 9,000 families!

We are motivated by love, respect, and a desire to provide dignity to our Latino people who are experiencing hunger and are in need of food.

Our collaborations will address the root causes of hunger, promote entrepreneurial creativity, and maintain optimism to develop opportunities for permanent employment, self-employment and business development for Latino people.

KRON4 - Mission Food Hub has launched a campaign to feed 7,000 people on Thanksgiving. Grocery boxes will be available starting at 10 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays.
